I recently got this lovely icon on my ipod. I had been unable to troubleshoot any of the apple solutions and since I was no longer under warrenty I figured I had nothing to lose.
Being completly fed up with the my ipod I decided to take it apart. I grabbed a hammer and a flathead screwdriver and whacked at it five times on the side where the plastic meets the metal. The cover came halfway off and I was about to rip it open when I realized that the ipod was on and the menu was on the screen. FIXED!! So I snapped it back together and now it works fine.
I told a roommate of mine who has the same sad face ipod icon and so he slammed his ipod on the counter five times really hard. Guess what? FIXED.
The solution to fixing a sad face ipod? Beat the crap out of it. Tough <3

I tuned into Live Earth yesterday to see what kind of impact it might have and how strong the message of protecting the natural mother was going to be. Bravo, CNBC, and NBC tried to cover the event. I wasnt able to get it online at all, and sadly missed Spinal Tap, which got no coverage at all.
Three things really pissed me off about the event.
1. No Spinal Tap Coverage
2. No Footage of local bands (If this was truly a global event, it wouldnt be all Kelly Clarkston and Madonna)
3. All the damn car commercials and Apple advertising during the commercials. (Apple had nothing to do with it, they were just looking to capitalize off a Microsoft event.. and the oil and car lobby were obviously playing chess with this one.)
There has been a grassroots organization for environmentalism for a long time.. They are called Hippies.. and they have alot of music specially made for events like this. Too bad nothing will come from this.. It could have been powerful.. instead, it was just another super bowl halftime show.

Cherokee Typeface
Sequoyah (ᏍᏏᏉᏱ S-si-quo-ya[1] in Cherokee) (c.1767 - 1843), known as George Guess, Guest or Gist, was a Cherokee silversmith who invented the Cherokee syllabary, thus earning him a place on the list of inventors of writing systems.
As a silversmith, Sequoyah dealt regularly with whites who had settled in the area. Often, the Native Americans were impressed by their writing, referring to their correspondence as “talking leaves.” Around 1809, Sequoyah began work to create a system of writing for the Cherokee language. From 1828 to 1834 the language was used in the Cherokee Phoenix which represented the Cherokee Nation.
After attempting to create a character for each word, Sequoyah decided to divide each word into syllables and create one character for each syllable. Utilizing the Roman alphabet and quite possibly the Cyrillic alphabet, he created 86 characters to represent the various syllables. This work took Sequoyah 12 years to complete.
There was some doubt amongst his fellow Cherokee as to the worthiness of his syllabary. In order to prove his creation, Sequoyah taught his daughter Ah-yo-ka how to read and write in Cherokee. After amazing locals with his new writing, Sequoyah attempted to display his feat to tribal medicine men only to be rebuffed by them for being possessed by evil spirits. Sequoyah finally proved his feat to a gathering of Chickamaugan warriors. Quickly news of the syllabary spread and the Cherokee were filling schools in order to learn the new written language. By 1823 the syllabary was in full use by the Cherokee Nation. The writing system was made official by the Cherokee Nation in 1825.
